A residential development consisting of two 1 bed houses close to Guildford town centre. Formerly a disused commercial building with a small footprint and no outside space which presented many challenges from both a design and construction perspective. Being built on a slope meant the original structure had limited ceiling height on the ground floor and was also dark on the first floor as it only had windows on the gable ends. Our solution was to raise the roof and first floor on the right side of the building, to echo the traditional semi-detached houses nearby, whilst adding large dormers to the front and Velux windows to the rear. We’re really pleased with the finished result and proud to have achieved a modern design which blends well with the surrounding street scene whilst still respecting the original structure.

Our chalet bungalow offers a spacious open-plan living area, in great need of a cosmetic uplift. We gained invaluable advice from David, who, on-site recommended we increase the width of a square opening to improve light ingress to a dark corner. He further recommended we relocate an internal wall to improve the aspect ratio of our living area, as well as converting a single bedroom into a double. His company provided accurate CAD diagrams of the entire property as well as comprehensive stress calculations for the work intended. His fees were also very reasonably priced. We highly recommend.
Excellent service from David and his highly knowledgable team. Our planning application was submitted efficiently and we felt fully supported throughout the process. The build didn’t start until around 18 months after the application, at which point David very kindly had a lengthy phone call with me, to answer additional questions. David has also kindly referred various other parties (builders, party wall specialists etc) with no obligation to use them, but it’s always helpful to have trusted recommendations.
